About the author

Maud Hart Lovelace was an American author born in Mankato, Minnesota, in 1892. She drew heavily on her own girlhood to create the Betsy-Tacy series, which followed its characters from early childhood through young adulthood. The books developed a devoted readership over decades and have remained in print largely through the enthusiasm of fans who discovered them as children. Lovelace spent much of her adult life in various parts of the United States and continued writing until later in her life. She passed away in 1980.
